DIC’s R&D Organization in Japan is structured into three core divisions to drive innovation and business growth. The Technical Management Unit focuses on research and development directly connected to business operations, ensuring that innovations can be rapidly implemented into products. The R&D Management Unit is responsible for strengthening existing core technologies while developing new fundamental technologies to support long-term growth. Meanwhile, the New Business Development Headquarters leads the creation of strategic new businesses and the commercialization of next-generation product groups.
These units work in close collaboration with the global R&D network across DIC Group companies worldwide, enabling the accelerated global development of products and technologies. This international R&D network includes DIC Graphics, Sun Chemical research centers in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Germany, and Qingdao DIC Finechemicals in China, which conducts market-oriented R&D tailored to the needs of the PRC market. In addition, DIC operates specialized technical centers for printing inks, polymers, solid compounds, pigments, and tapes throughout the PRC and the Asia–Pacific region. The global innovation ecosystem is further strengthened by the 3D Printing Materials Laboratory in Korea and the Algae Research Center in the United States.
Through this integrated global R&D network, DIC continues to advance cutting-edge technologies and deliver innovative solutions for the printing, packaging, and specialty materials industries worldwide.
