Solvent Based Flexo Inks
Flexible packaging solutions with high adhesion, excellent printability and strong solvent-resistant coatings — ideal for films, laminates and multi-layer packaging
Overview :
DIC solvent-based flexo inks are formulated for flexible packaging applications on a wide variety of film substrates (BOPP, PET, PE, PP, and laminates). With low-viscosity, high strength ink systems — developed by DIC / Sun Chemical — these inks deliver excellent print quality, reliable bonding, and compatibility for both surface and lamination printing.
Key Benefits:
- Low-viscosity & high-strength ink systems ensure stable ink flow and sharp prints even at high-speed production lines.
- Excellent bond strength for both surface printing and lamination applications — ideal for packaging films.
- Broad substrate compatibility: BOPP, PE, PET, treated films, laminated multi-layer structures.
- Good resistance to smearing, solvents, oils, fats, and moisture — suitable for food, snack, and FMCG packaging.
- Optimized for solvent-free or solvent lamination adhesives, giving flexibility to converters.
APPLICATION AREAS
Solvent-Based Flexo Inks from DIC are suitable for:
- Flexible packaging (snack, food pouches, coffee, dairy, etc.)
- Multi-layer laminated films
- Shrink sleeves & wraps
- Stand-up pouches & sachets
- Retail packaging for FMCG, personal care & consumer goods
- Laminated outer layers for printed film packaging
Product Series / Available Products
Below are some of the solvent-based flexo ink series offered by DIC / Sun Chemical. Each series is designed to meet specific substrate, lamination, and application demands. The corresponding Technical Data Sheet (TDS) is available upon request.
-
Solimax EL
General-purpose solvent-based ink for PE extrusion and adhesive lamination on BOPP, PET, and treated films. Offers good bond strength, low viscosity, and is suitable for HD flexo printing.
-
GPL / Unolam
High-pigment, low-viscosity ink system for reverse printing and lamination. Suitable for OPP, PE, PET, and high-speed printing applications.
-
Polytone Plus
Designed for hygiene and sensitive packaging (baby care, personal care). Formulated for treated LDPE films with high pigment stability and minimal bleed or migration.
-
DaiOl
For surface printing on polyolefin films. Provides resistance to water, milk, fat, deep-freeze, and heat, making it suitable for oil, dairy-related packaging, and frozen food pouches.
-
Pinnacle Plus / Corona Hitone
High-gloss or high-strength inks for premium film packaging such as carry bags and retail packaging. Offers good transparency, gloss, and solvent resistance.
Technical Guidance & Important Notes
- Solvent-based inks require proper substrate treatment (e.g. corona / surface tension treatment) to ensure adhesion, especially on BOPP / PE / PET films.
- For laminations (single or multi layer), ensure compatibility of solvent-based inks with adhesives and lamination process to avoid delamination.
- For food or sensitive products (snacks, oils, dairy), always validate migration, barrier properties, and external regulatory compliance.
- Consult DIC local technical team for optimum ink viscosity, drying/ curing conditions, and lamination specifications.
